The Senior Ruby Developer will support the DMS DegreeSearch team by supporting and extending our proprietary cross-channel marketing platform. They will work extensively with internal business users to identify and fix bugs as well as design and implement new features. The ideal candidate will know how to balance development speed and long term maintainability. They will also have the ability and desire to share their knowledge and mentorship with other members of the business and technology teams.Reports to: CTO, DMS Corporate


  • Complete full stack web application development.
  • Write clean, well-designed, maintainable code.
  • Collaborate with end users on platform direction and capabilities.
  • Drive technology project success and understand how that drives business success
  • Work with business stakeholders to provide user support and improve the existing platform.
  • Provide mentorship and architectural guidance to other development team members.
  • Show ownership of the code by sharing insights and best practices via code reviews
  • Look for and suggest ways to improve our development processes.
  • Complete other duties, tasks and activities as they arise.


  • 7+ years of software development experience
  • Extensive experience with the Ruby on Rails framework
  • Experience with complex, high-transaction system architectures
  • Experience with building and consuming APIs
  • Experience with relational databases and SQL
  • Experience with common Ruby design patterns including MVC and Pub-Sub
  • Familiarity with Git, Javascript, Vue.js, RSpec, Redis and RabbitMQ
  • Understanding of how to write effective unit/integration/system tests
  • Excellent organizational skills & attention to detail
  • Possess excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Curiosity and a drive to learn.
